Welcome to Math Spies!

If you stumbled on this blog by accident, you will soon see that it isn't an ordinary blog.  An ordinary blog is organized with the newest messages first.  This blog is a recruiting tool for Math Spies, a secret organization that uses the principles of math to defeat chaos everywhere.  To begin training to see if you are cut out for this secret organization, go to the page marked Missions -- Start Here.  There you will find seven scenarios to solve to see if you have the kind of skills we are looking for.

Alarm Code Clue #1

Smudge and Sludge have been located, but we need your help.  Smudge is hiding at Evergreen Office Supplies where he has been selling misfunctioning calculators.  Sludge has been doing a similar business at PDQ Drug Store. 

Math Spies, we need your help.  Follow the steps to find the security codes we need to sneak up on Sludge and Smudge and capture them.  Here is the first clue:

Find a two-digit number less than 60 that is a multiple of 12.  Its digits add up to 12.

Alarm Code Clue #2

The next number you need is a two-digit number less than 60.  When you add the digits, you get 11.  This number is a multiple of 7.

In order to find the four digit alarm code, multiple the answers to clues #1 and #2.

Alarm Code Clue #4

The next number you need is a two-digit number that is a multiple of 7.  Its digits add up to 6.

The next number you need is another two-digit number.  It is a square number and its digits add up to 10.

In order to find the alarm code to get into Sludge's hideout, multiply the answers you got in clues #4 and #5.
